Now Available: My New Book, Truth Emerging

Dear Friends,

For the past three and a half years, I’ve poured my heart into writing a book that represents the culmination of my life’s work. That book, Truth Emerging: A Developmental Philosophy of Purpose and Progress (Orbis Books), is now available on Amazon.

As I argue in the book, recent developments in science and philosophy are beginning to disclose the deeper meanings behind the evolution of nature and history. Evolution is not merely a story about where we came from, it can also help us understand where we’re going—and why our participation in this unfolding process matters.

As secular culture struggles with a growing crisis of meaning, and as political and cultural divisions erode our social solidarity, Truth Emerging offers a counter-cultural message of hope and courage. It explores how a renewed understanding of the values of goodness, truth, and beauty can restore a sense of the sacred while providing common ground across ideological and religious differences.

The distinguished philosophers who have endorsed Truth Emerging praise its ambitious attempt to reconnect philosophy with questions of social progress and human possibility. Georgetown philosophy professor John Haught describes the book as offering “many good reasons for hope.” Ralston College President Stephen Blackwood calls it “a beautiful and important book,” while CU philosophy professor Michael Zimmerman praises it as “well-argued and accessible.” Process philosopher Andrew M. Davis says the book establishes McIntosh as “a leading voice for meaning and purpose in an evolving cosmos.” In the book’s Foreword, Villanova theologian Ilia Delio writes: “This is philosophy that aspires to make a difference, to move beyond academic abstraction toward real-world impact.”
